Mr. Black Louisiana recipient, Kevin McCathen has been proactive during these very trying times. The recently-crowned has been utilizing his platform to assist those essential workers in his community. Just last week, he pulled from his own pockets to offer blessings to those who are on the front lines while most of society is practicing social distancing.

Last week I randomly picked 25 Healthcare/Essential Workers to be a Blessing to. As an essential employee myself, I know during this time in our lives everything can be physically, mentally and emotionally draining. We wake up everyday not knowing what situation lies ahead as we are pressing forward to our perspective employments; but we are going to be just fine! God is in control and he have to abide by his orders to get through this. To Jasimine Wallace Nicola M Simmons Latrica Danielle De La Paix Candles Leo Lestrick Tyrell T Morris Jessica Carter and every other essential employee, thank you for everything that you have contributed to make our communities a healthy and safe environment. You’re dedication to be a humble servant will never go unrecognized. Continue to remain safe and strong, and I’ll be praying for you and your loved ones to see greater days ahead.

During his reign as Mr. Black Louisiana 2020, Kevin advocates on the platform #HEREFORYOU– which is a mental health campaign that will spread the message that despite of whatever mental illness a person may be going through, there will always be people “here for them” to help guide them through the situation mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

Kevin also plans to advocate for Louisiana Creative Arts, HIV/AIDS Awareness, The Human Rights Campaign and other social issues that hinder the African-American community.
