Prized New Orleans Restaurateur, Donald “Chef D” Smith hosted the Grand Opening for his newly relocated Chef D’z Cafe on Sunday, January 6th. Now, in the heart of the historic Treme neighborhood, he looks to win the hearts of residents and tourists alike, through their bellies.

Chef D’z Grand Opening was unlike your traditional restaurant ribbon-cutting. Smith, the ever-generous Patriarch offered a completely free buffet style spread, complete with shrimp pasta, crab-rice, fried fish, and an assortment of wings! He also opened up his bar for the first time, with his signature cocktail lineup available at half price.

The famous dishes that have been in Chef D’z repertoire (gumbo, red beans and rice, and burgers), aren’t going anywhere no time soon. They will be available, along with brand new menu items. Smith also reassure that his most popular special, “The $2 Breakfast” is here to stay.

Chef D’z Cafe is open 7days a week, 8am – 8pm. They are located at 1535 Basin Street, New Orleans, 70116.
