Matt Gibson Architecture undertook a vast redesign of a grand Victorian residence in Melbourne, Australia, unveiling it as The Kooyong House. Incorporating the preexisting front elements of the house, a modernist two-level house was designed to fit in with the family’s needs. The L-shaped design is built around an elevated swimming pool and features a living area that can be opened up completely for an integrated indoor and outdoor space. Finished in blackbutt timber panels and grey stone tiles, the final outcome is both warm and modern.
