This the brand where the Bar Never Closes. MMATB encourages all to drink responsibly while having a good time.

Mario “Yoey” Martin got a opportunity to ask a few questions to the MMATB crew check it all out below to learn more about their brand.

Yoey: How did yall meet and become business partners?

MEET ME AT THE BAR: We have known each other since our college days at Alabama A&M University but our friendship did not blossom until we both moved to New Orleans, LA. We met for a cocktail and the rest is history.

Yoey: What gave you all the idea to create this?

MEET ME AT THE BAR: Meet Me At The Bar is very personal because it’s our truth. The brand is literally our story on how we have created such a strong bond. We are living proof that new friendships can be formed over just one cocktail. We created Meet Me At The Bar as an activity with an effort to maintain bonds and create new ones.

Yoey:  What was the process of picking the name for the company?

MEET ME AT THE BAR: MMATB brand name came naturally. We frequently use the saying Meet Met At The Bar during needed times of celebration, enjoyment, to get drunk, stress relieving, escape problems, catch up, or just because. We then realized the bar wasn’t always a physical location and that it could be accessed at any time, for any reason. After the saying turned into a social activity for us, we started to notice the traction it picked up. We knew then Meet Me At The Bar allowed family, friends, companions, etc. To unite at any time and anywhere regardless of location. The brand name stuck immediately not only because it was fitting but also because it’s how we met and how we continue to maintain our close bond.

What was the process of starting up the company? Easy or Hard in your opinion?

MEET ME AT THE BAR: Start-up was easy. Reason being is because the vast majority of all social gatherings in the first half of 2020 was canceled or postponed. Due to the impact of COVID-19 everything was at a standstill. We were starting to “meet at the bar” virtually more frequently because we couldn’t see each other physically. We weren’t the only ones who resorted to maintaining bonds virtually due to being sheltered in place. Our first thought was how could we create a perfect substitute for the sheltered in place lives they were currently living, knowing we couldn’t fully replace real-life experiences. From that day forward we shared a passion for maintaining bonds/friendships and meeting new people. Our method of choice to accomplish both just so happened to be over a cocktail. One of the major benefits of Meet Me At The Bar is that the bar is always open because this activity can be virtual or  physical. Meet Me At The Bar officially launched March 2020.

Yoey: What’s Funniest thing about the company?

MEET ME AT THE BAR: Preparing for MMATB’s first live experience is one of our funniest memories. We are both perfectionists, so prep included a lot of practice runs of how we thought the live experience would run. We legitimately were pacing back and forth throughout the house reciting how we would respond to questions and we recorded ourselves to make sure we sounded professional and looked presentable. And just when we thought we were done practicing, one of us would scream out “from the top!”….and we both would just start laughing because we knew it was time to run it back and do it again. We probably practiced a total of 10 times before we were satisfied. We take pride in being highly organized, striving to master a task, and paying close attention to detail.

Yoey: Most challenging thing about the company?

MEET ME AT THE BAR: The COVID-19 pandemic has made connecting and gathering in person difficult. Our first event was a bar crawl and shortly after everything came to a screeching halt due to the pandemic. This forced us to pivot and think about how we could offer the same high quality, fun experience virtually. Our brand represents connecting, relationships, and bonding and facilitating this virtually just isn’t ideal. Nevertheless we have persisted and have offered virtual programming and some small, intimate in-person activities too. We look forward to bringing a larger group of people together to meet us at the bar!
