The new James Brown biopic, Get On Up, is set for a theatrical release August 1. It stars Chadwick Boseman (42, “Lincoln Heights”) as Brown.

The film is directed by Tate Taylor (The Help) and produced by Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile). It follows Brown’s life from a childhood of poverty in Augusta, Ga., to becoming one of the most iconic artists in American music history.
