If you know anything about New York fashion, you are familiar with Nickelson Wooster. Arguably the best dressed man in the most fashionable city in the country, Wooster has a new gig that has many in the industry shocked. He has been named the new Creative Director of men’s clothing business at JC Penney. A far cry from his previous work at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, the latest addition to his resume is somewhat of a middlebrow retailer looking to restore their relevance, and maybe even their image. Wooster helps them accomplish both.
It’s no secret that Wooster has a large following and an exceptional eye for style. His influence is seen throughout our culture with more refined, tailored man. JC Penney, having recently run into some issues with Ellen DeGeneres, may be looking to hire the openly gay Wooster to aid in repairing their damaged image. Moreover, with people shopping again, mostly younger to middle-aged individuals, Penney’s hopes to expand their audience and Wooster is definitely someone who can help them do so. It will be interesting to see how this exciting new development plays out.
