Lenny Kravitz is the “mystery act” for the final Sunday of the 2015 New Orleans Jazz Fest. Kravitz will perform on the festival’s final Sunday, May 3. He’ll likely appear on the Acura Stage in front of Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and Orleans Avenue.
If so, the scheduling would represent the completion of a career circle: In 2005, when Andrews was still in his teens, Kravitz took him on the road as a member of his horn section. That was Andrews’ first experience with a major, months-long rock tour. Andrews has subsequently cited Kravitz as a major inspiration; Kravitz made a guest appearance on Andrews’ 2010 national debut, “Backatown.” It’s entirely likely that they’ll join each other onstage at Jazz Fest.
