New Orleans got their biggest win of the season on Monday night. The Hornets had lost 7 straight home games but ended that streak against San Antonio. New Orleans has a 3-1 record in games Gordon has played and hope to make a push at the 8th seed in the West. If they are going to make a push, this week will be a great indicator.
The Bees face 3 more teams this week that are in playoff position right now and all have winning marks. New Orleans is currently 10 games out the 8th spot and have to really get going if they want a chance by April. San Antonio was aware of how dangerous the Hornets could be. “(The Hornets) never stop coming at you,” said coach Gregg Popovich on Monday before the two teams squared off.
The Spurs have beat the Hornets twice this year but had not played the Bees since New Orleans’ roster has been back healthy. New Orleans looks deeper and more explosive with a healthy Gordon and youthful supporting cast. On Monday, Gordon scored 24 points and six in a row in an important late stretch in the 4th. Anthony Davis added 17 points, Greivis Vasquez had 14 and Ryan Anderson chipped in 13 as the Hornets got a 95-88 win against the Spurs.
The Spurs have struggled on the road lately, losing 7 of their last 9 away from home after Monday night’s loss to New Orleans. The Hornets, on the other hand, have won two in a row and look to beat another division foe tonight.
The Houston Rockets are the highest scoring team in the NBA and enter Wednesday’s game on a five game winning streak. They beat the Lakers last night 125-112. They also beat the Hornets last week 104-92 but both Eric Gordon and Anthony Davis did not play.
