If you thought being president came with a lot of perks your were correct, for example, when you meet with the Ambassador of another country you don’t just get a thank you email or card in the mail, you get gifts! (BIG GIFTS)

The State Department released a report of all the gifts President Obama received from world leaders in 2011, and you won’t believe what he got.

His gifts included a bamboo bicycle from the Philippines Ambassador, an expensive rug from the Afghan Ambassador, and an ipod shuffle from the Australian Prime Minister. On the more pricey end he received $40,000 worth of items from France’s President including a Hermes golf bag, a Louis Vuitton men’s bag, two Baccarat crystal lamps an children’s clothing form Bopoint in Paris.

Unfortunately, officials aren’t allowed to keep gifts from foreign officials and must accept them then give them to the government, as not to offend the gifter by giving them back.

I knew being president was pretty amazing but I didn’t quite know it was HERMES amazing! What do you think about President Obama not getting to keep any of those fabulous gifts?
