Last year Yamaha commissioned several design teams to reinterpret their coveted XJR1300 motorcycle as a part of the brand’s newly launched ‘Yard Built’ series of custom bikes. A running obsession with motorcycles always evidences itself in Deus Ex Machina‘s work, with the Australian brand specializing in custom motorbikes in addition to their own fashion brand.

Accordingly, Deus Ex Machina was commissioned to create a custom project for the Yard Built series, with the result being a smooth, deconstructed version of the original entitled Project X. Project X pays homage to its endurance bike heritage with a stripped back appearance, polished components, and a 1251cc air-cooled engine. Enjoy a look at the custom bike now, and be sure to head over to Yamaha’s Yard Built mini site to view other bikes from the series.
